Recognizing and Responding to AVMs in Children

While AVMs are rare, early recognition is critical.

Symptoms to watch for include:

 

Severe, sudden headaches that may be unlike anything the child has experienced before.

 

Seizures, even if it’s the first time the child has had one.

 

Dizziness or fainting, often without a clear cause.

 

Blurred or double vision or other unexplained visual disturbances.

 

Unusual weakness or numbness, particularly on one side of the body.
